Hot Fudge Sauce Ice Cream Topping
Rich, velvety, and deeply chocolaty—this hot fudge sauce is the gold standard for a classic sundae. It’s luscious straight from the stove and even better poured over a scoop of vanilla or coffee ice cream.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted

Directions:

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream and butter. Stir until the butter melts and the cream just begins to boil.
  2. Add the granulated and brown sugars. Stir gently over low heat until fully dissolved.
  3. Add the salt and sifted cocoa. Whisk carefully, continuing to stir until the sauce is completely smooth. Tip: Press out any stubborn cocoa lumps against the side of the pan with a spatula.
  4. Serve immediately for the best texture.

Yields: About 2 cups

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve warm over VanillaBanana, or Coffee ice cream.
  • Store leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator. The sauce will thicken as it cools. To reheat, use a double boiler or warm slowly over low heat. Add a few drops of hot water if needed to loosen the consistency.
